Application Procedure
Preparation of the substrate
Plaster Mortar M15 can be applied on concrete substrates, existing or new masonry, brick, tuff and mixed as long as they are clean and consistent, free from crumbly parts, dust and dirt. Saturate with water the support and before proceeding with the application of Plaster Mortar M15, wait for the excess water to evaporate, so that the support is saturated but with a dry surface To facilitate the elimination of free water it can be compressed air is used if necessary. Concrete made by casting within formwork, must be clean and free from form release oils and greases. The latter they can be removed from the substrate by sandblasting or pressure washing. Any gaps or discontinuities in the substrate on which the plaster must be applied in uniform thickness they must be previously filled using Plaster Mortar M15. If the support is made of concrete, brick of old workmanship or mixed masonry, it is advisable to apply a first layer of Beton Contact, in order to uniform the absorption of the substrate and improve the adhesion of the plaster. It is also advisable to place vertical guides on the walls to be plastered, in order to define their flatness.
Preparing the product
Mix Plaster Mortar M15 in a cement mixer or in the hopper of a screw-type pump with a separate mixer, such as a Putzmeister S 5 or a similar machine. Small amounts of the product may be prepared using an electric drill at low speed with a mixing attachment. After adding around 5 liters of clean water for every 25 kg bag of product in a cement mixer or in the mixing unit of a screw-type pump, slowly add the powdered mortar in a constant flow. Mix for 3 to 4 minutes and then make sure the mix is well blended and even and that there are no lumps. Make sure there are no traces of powdered mortar stuck to the sides or bottom of the mixer.
Applying the product
Apply a layer of mortar from 10 to 20 m thick with a trowel or putty knife; no formwork is required. As soon as the mortar starts to set, tamp the surface with a sponge float. The waiting time required before carrying out this operation depends on surrounding weather conditions.
