Product Description

Masonry Mortar B3 is a light gray single-component premixed mortar based on hydrated lime, hydraulic binders, selected sands and special powder additives. Thanks to its particular composition, the plaster obtained by mixing Masonry Mortar B3 with water has a good quality adhesion and is particularly suitable for application with plastering machine on almost all substrates. Masonry Mortar B3 is classified according to the European standard EN 998-2.

Field of Application

Base plaster on mixed masonry, new brick, concrete blocks and reinforced concrete cast on site, inside and outside building walls. Realization of lime-cement based plasters suitable for both interiors and exteriors of buildings for residential and tertiary use, commercial and industrial, to be carried out by hand or with a plastering machine.

The consumption is approximately 1.8kg/m2 at 1 mm thickness.

Application Procedure

Preparation of the substrate

The support where the material will be applied must be dry, clean, uniform, absorbent, and stable. There should be no external residues, such as: oils, varnishes, etc. It is not allowed to apply the product on a frozen support (frozen bricks). When the supports, bricks are dried and characterized by a high water-suction quality, it is suggested to spray the support with water before applying the product.

Preparing the product

Mix Masonry Mortar B3 in a cement mixer or in the hopper of a screw-type pump with a separate mixer, such as a Putzmeister S 5 or a similar machine. Small amounts of the product may be prepared using an electric drill at low speed with a mixing attachment. After adding around 5 liters of clean water for every 25 kg bag of product in a cement mixer or in the mixing unit of a screw-type pump, slowly add the powdered mortar in a constant flow. Mix for 3 to 4 minutes and then make sure the mix is well blended and even and that there are no lumps. Make sure there are no traces of powdered mortar stuck to the sides or bottom of the mixer.

Applying the product

Apply a layer of mortar from 10 to 20 m thick with a trowel or putty knife; no formwork is required. As soon as the mortar starts to set, tamp the surface with a sponge float. The waiting time required before carrying out this operation depends on surrounding weather conditions.
